I think the Wildwood resort marina would be better. Has on-site restaurants and more convenient to docks and pavilions.

Thursday report on Hales Bar,
4 or 5 people here thurs.
1 has bad smell in floating cabin,
1 has rotten board on entry step,
1 is driving boat around in circles looking for a place to tie up.
Fri. morning,
1 is driving nails in dock bumpers to tie up.
1 went into town to buy blue water chemical for toilet,,,,, on his own dime !!!!
Docks have many steel snags hanging out waiting to scratch up a boat.
I'm not trying to sell anything, I'm just telling what is here.

Thurs. on BluewaterDayton marina
I stopped in for a tour of the place, inbound for Hales Bar.
The docks are up to date, cleats and bumpers in place,
marina is in a protected waters slough.
A Mexican restaurant near the dam has docks, about 25mile run
Cabins are clean as represented on the webpage.
The big pavilion is awesome, restrooms, bar, refridgerator, tables, chairs, and it will save a rainy day.
It easy to imagine Kareoke at the bar.
The cabins are not all clustered together, kinda spread out such as the land cabins at HalesBar.
There is many many RV sites there, but the cabins are clean, updated, docks good, pavilion good.
all kitchens are full size and up to date
bathrooms are up to date, for real toilets.
The pavilion is away from docks such as land cabins at HalesBar.
The 8 rooms and 8 lofts, are together and very close to pavilion.
Closer to Dayton than HB is to Kimball
I got the cheapest hotel room in Dayton Wed. nite, and it was very good.
Dayton has choices for hotels, restaurants, hospital, et. al.
There is a very nice looking restaurant a canoe paddle distance from the marina, with small dock
I'm not trying to sell anything, just telling whats here.

I think Wildwood has more rooms and options. Rooms are closer to docks. Has two restaurants. Could drive to Nashville for an evening out to places like BB Kings.

Bluewater seems too rv oriented and rooms are on opposite end of resort from docks. Docks look like the water is very shallow.

I vote for Wildwood.

After seeing the docks and hearing the cabin issues this year at Hales Bar its clear we have to move for Gathering 15. No question about that now.

Wildwood hasnt been very quick to respond to requests for further details on dock space, condition etc.
Bluewater has been very responsive and already offered to block out 22 cabins and offer a discount as well as 24 boat slips in addition to a pavilion, firepits and pool.

Their enthusiasm goes a long way for me.

The video Ken took in person at Bluewater of the docks doesn't appear the docks are shallow and they are in excellent condition. There is shade trees, ship store and clean restrooms right there by the docks and boat ramps. They have no problem with us setting up canopies by the docks and having run of the area. Everything is clean and well kept throughout the grounds inside and out in Kens videos.

I also dont like the idea of alienating one of the Gatherings most faithful supporters by going somewhere that doesnt have a place for him to hook his RV on site or others that may want to in the years to come.

If it rains at Wildwood I dont see a place we can we all be together out of the rain? Bluewater has one of two large pavilions for our group with restrooms which will work great in case of rain. Also, a nice pool and a playground offers those with kids a more family friendly experience.

I propose we give Bluewater a try for G15 because of all they have come out and offered to us. We've seen its clean and well kept and has enough room. If we dont love it or they dont keep all their promises, try Wildwood the next year. Then pick which to keep going back to or keep looking.

Both options seem nice, but Wildwood seems more off the beaten path. Harder for those coming just for a day. Also, the lack of RV camping was a concern for me as well. Not to confuse maters, but has anyone reached out to Euchee? They seem like a viable alternative as well. They do have floating cabins with docks right outside that seem to have enough space to accommodate a large number of our boats.

Chris, you are right. Without the RV facility, Wildwood isn't a good alternative. All things considered, Bluewater is the best choice. I would be happy there. I would commit to them this year if they can block out the rooms and give us a reasonable cancelation policy.

I like the fact that they are floating docks. Just hope the water is deep enough. We'll maybe need to assign docks based on boats.

With the outboard I can take one of the shallower spots if need be. We are excited about going there next time.

They already blocked all the rooms for last weekend in Sept for us. You can cancel up to I think they said 7 days without penalty but it may have been 30. Its on the website

I don't want to change (I'm getting older.). But, I think Blue Water is the right decision.

I think they said they would hold all the rooms for 30 days for us to make a decision if we are relocating there or not.

It seems pretty much unanimous among those here this year. Will discuss it at the awards tonight.

Thank you Ken and Chris for doing the legwork.

NO,
it is not all settled.
it is forthcoming.
I still have to clear up a couple prices, and verify, before I 'pull the trigger'
I will tell everyone when the reservations are ready, and what name is the keyword to ask for.
The last time there was a touch of confusion as to who or what the reservation name was in and who is it going to.
ALL that is forthcoming
WE do not need multiple people calling in to the office prematurely.
.......I have intent to upload some video that Vupilot referred to, for all to see, before I pull the trigger.
I intend to give everyone the same access to the same referred to video.

.......some things mentioned this weekend, that I was not aware of......
some of the ladies did not like HalesBar, more so than I was aware of,
HalesBar is not kids friendly, I no longer have kids,
some members quit coming to the G simply because of HalesBar,
G15 has good bathrooms, it is kids friendly, and overall attractive.
