Food

Post by Bill Edmundson »

I guess it is about time to think about food. I really don't want to do Saturday night cooking. We'll look at a pasta salad. I'm going to bring some mead for Tom Juring. Maybe, find some ice cream for some mead treats. It is not a big problem to get some cook it yourself hotdogs for Saturday lunch.

Please, jump in for what you may be able to do.

On Thursday evening Craig and I will be hosting the annual Thursday night "Spaghetti Dinner". We started doing this about four years ago and it has grown to the point where our cabin just isn't big enough. Last year we had it at the marina restaurant on the second floor. This year it may be there again or it could be on the floating patio next to the marina store. Don't worry, Craig and I get there earlier in the week and we will find a place. Wherever it is, everyone is invited. There will be plenty to eat, trust me. We will have beer (usually Lite Beer for Bill), and wine. If you would like to bring your own beverages, that's fine too. More details will follow, but please put it on your calendar. For those who have not been to a Gathering, it's best to show up Thursday to meet everyone over a plate of spaghetti and then you will be able to make the "Chattanooga Lunch Run" on Friday morning. I might add there is always spaghetti left over which will be put out on the dock Friday evening as an additional dinner item.

I know Bill and Lauren are very busy on Saturday keeping things going and, even though he is a great cook, it would be nice if we could give Bill the day off from cooking.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in September...… All take care,,, Neel

Rich and I will be heading up to Alexandria Bay after the gathering. Consequently, we won't be bringing any appliances for cooking. We will bring chips and water and other things we can leave and pitch into the kitty.

I’m far from in charge on this Saturday night meal, but I think a taco bar is what Heather is planning.

Anybody for breakfast? I just do coffee. Lauren usually just has a frozen fruit bar.

Last year was such a whirlwind with actually getting the boat there. I didn't contribute much. I'll be happy to pitch in on breakfast one or more mornings. Maybe sausage and eggs or something. I think I still have a camp stove kicking around somewhere.

Also, Matt B, I'll be happy to contribute some sort of meat to the taco bar (shredded pork, beef, or chicken). I can make it ahead and freeze.

One more thing, what size are the canopies that folks usually bring that seem to fit perfectly on the dock? 10x10?

10x10 seems to be a good size.
