See: "Useful Information and Suppliers" for a list of lumber and plywood suppliers. Also see: "Wood & Plywood Information". Both located in the left-hand column of the Home page.

new boat builder questions

Post by catbert »

I'm very new to boat building and I have a couple of questions for you elder boat builders. what is cold-molded wood building? Also what is up with the strips of plywood put on in different directions I keep seeing in the pictures like on the fourth page of pictures for the Francis Drake?

You mostly answered your own question. The strips of ply in multi directions IS cold molding. Cold molding is also done with thin wood veneer rather than ply.
You can scroll the Glen-L homepage, left sidebar, 'boatbuilding methods', and click into a basic description of this.
You can scroll the left sidebar to 'news letters' also and find lots of info on a great many subjects.
