Florida rampage build

Hello fellow builders

Just thought I would check in a drop a few pictures of my Rampage that I’ve started building.

I picked up some rough sawn mahogany in November which had been drying for about a year. I re-sawed and milled down that lumber to produce all the pieces for all of the frames. Then of course I built the frames using west systems epoxy.

I just finished bonding and cutting the motor stringers and am almost done with my version of the building form. I should have the engine stringers up this weekend with frames at least sitting in position.

While doing that, I found a Berkeley 12JC-A jet pump on eBay that was seized up. I spent 500 bucks for it, got it home and spent a couple evenings taking it apart. It’s in great shape, I stripped all the paint off and it’s currently waiting to go for powder coating. I have a master rebuild kit for it when it comes back.

While all that has been going on, I also got started on my 383 stroker for her. I picked up a good small block 4 bolt main .10 .20 block that has never been bored. Working with a local automotive machine shop, that block has been hot tanked, measured, machined .030 over and awaits a few more machine steps. I bought a new Eagle forged crank and rods and pistons along with a basket full of smaller parts. I still have to buy heads,cam, valve train stuff and carb. The engine will be a full roller engine and is being set up with a digital MSD ignition so that if I decide to add turbos later on I can change the timing curve using my laptop. The engine build is a known setup and I am expecting 450/500 HP.

I still need to sand and epoxy coat the frames before installing on the stringers. That’s gonna slow me down a bit.

Finally finished the motor stringers today. I have not finished my build form yet but almost. I couldn’t resist an opportunity to throw frames up just to see.

That will be a lot of HP for that boat but it will be fast. Enjoy your build

I always figured it’s better to have HP and not need it than need HP and not have it!

Update on my Rampage build. This morning I bonded the last piece of plywood on the bottom. A little trimming and bodywork and I’ll be moving into laying down 6oz fiberglass the primer then paint.
