Re: Florida rampage build
Well I work slowly due to other life commitments and the fact this is a hobby so I work when I feel like it. I have finally completed painting the bottom and will turn boat over soon.
Re: Florida rampage build

Yes, I have a Berkeley JC-A pump that I found on eBay. It was advertised as being complete but seized up. I bought it for 500 bucks. I was able to tear it down and overhaul it with a kit from CP Performance. I have also built a new 383 Stroker which is simply awaiting me flipping boat so she(along with pump) can be installed.
The bottom and sides are painted with Lucid Technologies GenRoc products. It’s a three stage white pearl. I used a white Awl-Grip 545 epoxy primer then 3 coats white base, 3 coats pearl mid-coat then two coats clear. I prepped lift strakes with several coats of West system epoxy with special clear hardener, block sanded then taped off for base and mid coat. Pulled masking for final clear coats. There are some small flaws in my body work and there are a few nibs in clear coat here and there. I will block with 1500 and do a final buff before flipping boat.
It’s by no means perfect but I like it and it’s certainly good enough fir this amateur boat builder.
I know there is a lot of discussion about automotive paints on boats, especially bottoms. I decided to just go for it and see how it holds up.

Looks pretty good from here.
What kind of equipment do you need to spray that material?

I'd eat off that!
Re: Florida rampage build
Built a paint booth out of PVC pipe, plastic sheet some masking tape and box fans.
Spray guns used were Sagola 4600 digital. Two different guns. One for base a mid coat and a different one for clear coat. Big difference is in tip size.

Re: Florida rampage build
yeah, you should be happy with that. well done.
I wanna see that color in the sun, see it light up !
I put a black stripe on my build, and it was basecoat/clearcoat black. for the clear I put some cheap red pearl in it, and did a test panel. just 1 coat of clear tho. my test panel it lit up nicely, but the stripe on the sides not so much. the sides pointing down doesn't seem to light
Nice work there, I can see the depth color (kinda like that Lexus color)
You gonna do the decks the same?

Re: Florida rampage build
The deck is going to be Pearl Orange around the perimeter and down the center of the forward deck. On the bow there will be two open spots where there will be mahogany laminate. I am going to do a carbon fiber rub rail all the way around and also a small mahogany toe rail on each side of the deck starting just back from the bow an stopping just short of the transom. The toe rail will be mounted 1" inboard from the shear line and the carbon fiber will start against the toe rail, go out and around the shear and stop 1" below the shear on the side of the boat. All of it will be clear coated together. My engine is all black and so I'm thinking that the carbon fiber rub rail will help set that off a bit.
at least that's what I think I'm going to do........

Re: Florida rampage build
Finally found time to flip The Rampage. I have named her “Edge of Panic”. Looking forward to installing pump and engine.
