maybe a drone to help get the pictures
All those fjords up the inside passage is amazing, some are tidal and have to be timed correct

I am very happy to see it on the water and that you didn't have the problems the SV Seeker is having. Doug Jackson's steel build is still sitting at the port trying to get in the water. Good thing you took care of the paperwork and stuff before hand

Good to hear from you Rod...

I hadn't heard about the current SV Seeker issues but I can tell you from our recent experience that getting insurance and documentation on a homebuilt is not easy. On the other hand, he was able to get the transport to the launch site done pretty smoothly, much more efficiently than our effort. I wish Mr. Jackson well...

A brief update:

Have been taking some longer excursions on SF Bay and out beyond the Golden Gate to see how the boat performs in rougher water... so far, everything has worked out, the bilge stays dry and the full keel tracks like it's on rails. Stabilizers are very effective in reducing roll and the main engine is working well. Have scheduled the first oil and filter change for next week since we're north of 50 hrs...

Here's a pic of us taken by a friend... we're in the wake control zone in the Oakland Estuary headed out for a trip to the Bay at about 5 kts on a clear day. (I got distracted and forgot to pick up the fenders! )

On an earlier trip with a little marine layer overcast, there were about a dozen of these wing foils off the Crissy Field West Beach... these guys could scoot along at a remarkable speed, probably 15 kts or better and seemed to enjoy cutting across our wake.

Took this pic of the GG Bridge south tower coming back from a short trip to the north... doing about 10 kts. Didn't see any whales but a couple of dolphins swam up to check us out. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone handy to take a pic and they were gone pretty quickly.

I leave my boat fenders out too.Never know if Coast Guard boat might want to come along side and access to them is awkward at best.

Here's a couple more pics going southeast on the Oakland Estuary past the marina to check out the drawbridges... Park Street is the first of three along the route. The drill is to call up the bridge on ch 9 about a half mile out to request the raise... the operator will clear the bridge of vehicle and pedestrian traffic and then raise the spans. Pretty cool to watch!

Karen is on the trunk cabin watching the process while I call up the bridge operator to request the raise...

Bridge is on the way up and we're on our way through!
