I don't think your as far off as you think. When you follow the face of the shear it should flow to the center of the stem, not the outer edge. Its hard to tell from your photo, but it looks close. Also, the outer edge of the stem should flow to the lower (really upper when flipped) front point of the breast hook. To me it seems like your breast hook may be a little to far back. If that is the case, I'd just add a piece to the front of the breast hook where the shear attaches.

Many builders have found that they need to add more material to the back of the shear. When you fair it, it may become a triangle that is hard to attach the plywood to.

I installed the keel, the battens and the sheers.

I‘m not sure if I got the right angle because there is no arch and the breasthook seems to be a bit too high. I will make a picture when I‘m going to work on the Squirt on thursday.

I screwed the chines temporarily in place which does not look pretty nice. A chine block/ hook will be the next thing I will build.

I want to build the chinehook and worry about the right angle. I tried a 45 degree angle but it doesn‘t seem right...
Tommorrow I‘m back at my building place so I can‘t measure today...

The transition joint isn‘t as good as I hoped it would be so I need to cover it in paint. I already bought the white and blue/green color (I really like the look of Riva).

Do you guys know a shop where I can buy a windshield bracket for the squirt who ships to Germany?

Hello. Your build looks really nice and comming along. I've just bought the plans for a Squirt myself and are planning to start the build in Denmark this winter. I did not buy any fasternes from Glen-l due to thinking i could find them more locally, but I'm starting to regret it allready as it seems difficult to find SB avaliable in europe. My plan is to use scews for everything also where the plans calls for nails - you seems to do so aswell. Could I please ask to you choise of fasternes and where you located them?

Hi Søren,

I had so much trouble trying to get those fasteners so I decided to use the „normal“ screws (Spax) and stainless steel screws.

The last weeks I‘ve painted the hull. I will polish the hull and do the flip next monday. I‘m a bit excited

Thanks alot for the info, I've kind of come to the same conclusion as your-self. It's a project to find SB in this part of the world. After alot of research and advices from people obout only gluing it together (I was not that keen on that), I did what you did, decided to go with SS even thoug it CAN be problems. My main reason for thinking it will be allright is that my boat will be mostly on a trailer and then the following statement from Jeff Spira coupled with the fact that people seems to have success with glue-only - "Next materials: It used to be that stainless steel was very expensive, but with most of
the fasteners coming from offshore, stainless just isn't that expensive anymore and for most
trailerable boats, stainless makes an ideal fastener. It doesn't corrode normally with a boat that
is kept out of the water even when used in seawater. I can hear the comments from readers
now, "but what about everything I read that it corrodes when in seawater and embedded under
a sealed surface..." Yes, OK, it can corrode under certain circumstances, but in my opinion,
these are few and far between, and see paragraph 1 above ‐ If it does corrode so what?"

Looking forward to follow along you build. I myself just finished router-templates for frame members and have startet to go though/select/plane a pile of oak that I milled years back.
