I have mini panics all the time when I turn the key with the dang thing in gear. I’ve also been known to squirt staring fluid down the throat of carb on an engine that won’t start with the kill switch key dangling.

Where did you get the material for the transom wrap? Have you trimmed out the hatch yet?

my brother in law actually had the SS for the transom bands, but I got the same stuff from onlinemetals.com

9861 0.06" Stainless Sheet 316/316L Cold Roll 2B

Yes, hatch has stainless steel band around it.
