ok folks,
I read and researched and the consensus on battery cables is marine cable (tinned and multi stranded) 4 gauge is the way to go.
Does anybody think that 4 gauge wont work?

4 gage should be fine unless you are running a battery to starter cable over 3.5 ft. according to Crusader installation instructions.

And a few other things... too complicated. Plug your info in here http://circuitwizard.bluesea.com/ to get a correct cable size. Get your cables made by www.bestboatwire.com and you're good to go.

I just went with 2 guage. Maybe overkill but I dont have to worry about not enough amps getting through. On tomB's recommendation I went with bestboatwire.com.

folks, with my battery under the bench seat, my cable runs are all the way to the back of the motor (starter and grounding lug) and are 5 ft (negative) and almost 6 ft (positive) so I needed to go with 2 gauge.
I also used the bestboatwire.com and had them custom made.
As usual, thanks for all the feedback and help! You guys never fail to amaze me with knowledge and willingness to look up and share.
I'm getting dangerously close to firing this thing up! I probably need to research how to accomplish a dry start now!

Ken's video is really helpful. Another way, I have a flushing T in my intake hose I can attach a garden hose to. Then I open up the T valve and close the seacock. Throttle the hose so that you don't flood the engine.

if you plumb a Y-valve into the raw water, you can put garden hose thread on it for flushing, and, emergency crash pump for the bilge.

Hey folks,
I guess I should have been clearer. I have a valve and point to put the garden hose to flush the system, I guess I need to fill a big trash can and suck from that while filling it with the hose. My guess is the gpm of the engine may exceed that of a standard water supply from the faucet.
