Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Things are a bit slow with the boat-building these days, but have at least managed to get some color on the inside of the hull.
Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Small steps will get you over the finish line. Looks nice.

Thanks Jim. They will, and I'm not really in a hurry

Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Been busy making planer shavings lately. Lots of fairing to get the barrel looking right. Think it is decent now, so the sub-deck is in place

Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Looking good, Thomas!

Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Looking Great! If we could only reconstitute all the shavings and dust back into usable lumber. Or even the cut off pieces. Sigh!

Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Thanks guys!
It would indeed be nice to use the shavings, chips and dust for something good. It feels kinda backwards to put so much nice material on there, just to remove it
I guess it could be a good fire starter if nothing else.

Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Adding, then removing, more material. Have put on a mahogany filler outside the sub-deck. Will then use the same veneer thickness for the cover boards as for the decking in general.
Have also cut out the engine hatch from the sub-deck.

Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Looking good, it's coming right along! Cutting out the hatch is scary.

Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Thanks Jim. Yes, it was a bit scary, but I crawled underneath to mark/drill the four corners of the framing and cut after those marks, so was relatively sure it would be ok (after having measured a couple of times from the top as well, of course
)
Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Nice! I love vaccum bagging like this, you should have a void free bond there.
