Thanks Ken. I’m quite sure I prefer the oval as well, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to look at a few options.
Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Oval looks nice.

I vote for the oval also. I like the textured metal ovals.
Pic below is from a classic boat show. Not textured but you get the ideal. Notice the curved wood bottom.

Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
I did like the curved wood bottom on the one in your picture Jim, here's another version. I think this might be the one.

I second that motion

Aye! I like the last one just posted best. Looks Great and provides good leg room with the curve on the bottom going up on each side.

I like your last drawing! I just noticed the metal inlays in your drawing which are a nice touch. Inlays in dashboards were common in classic boats. I made mine from 1/4" stainless bar. Attached is an example picture.

Yes, I’ve seen the metal inserts in your and other boats Jim, and I like it too. So I might as well copy it

Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Things are moving along slowly these days, but have gotten a few things done. Seat framing is nearly ready and the backing plates for the ceilings are in place. I have installed some PVC tubes in the seat frames to act as “garages” for fenders. Plates for seat backs and backing plates for the ceiling upholstery are also done and will be delivered to the upholstery shop soon.
Re: Norwegian Barrelback 20'
Check out available fender sizes. Looks to me that your tubes diameter might be a little small. You will want good sized fenders to protect your boat at the dock.
