Re: Key Largo Build in Charleston

V8 small block...PCM 5.0. I know the 6 has plenty of power but got a good deal. 8 years since launch and no signs of any issues. I didn’t install motor or running gear as didn’t want to take that on. You are braver than me 😄.

Air Horn

Have been thinking about adding a real air horn with compressor. Has anyone done this and have any recommendations on best product or setup? Wondering how much room compressor takes up and best location to install. Alternatively, are there any electric horns that give you similar effect as air??

Re: Cooling Issue

Hose btw scoop and strainer is good. Pulled all that and ran water thru. No obstructions and not collapsed. So I did take off hose on outlet side of impeller housing. That runs up to housing with thermostat and did find some impeller pieces in that hose. I removed the housing with thermostat and flu...

Re: Cooling Issue

Thx for the replies. Got a laugh Bill from your note. No worries! Kens, first thing i did when it happened was to check scoop! Definitely installed the right way. Guess it’s a process of elimination. Thx. Roberta, thx for that thought. It is belt driven with key. I did twist impeller when installing...

Cooling Issue

Last month running about 2500 rpm, smelled rubber burning and engine temp went up. Raw water cooled. Impeller failed. I was close to ramp so engine didn’t get excessively hot. I pulled the impeller, found some broken pieces. Replaced and all tight, no leaks. Launched shortly after that and not pulli...

Re: Key Largo Build in Charleston

Thanks Mick. I have two batteries under the rear seat. I think weight distribution is just about right with them in rear. Boat planes out pretty quickly. Will try and take some pics tomorrow of the installation.

Re: Key Largo Build in Charleston

No insulation on engine box on my build and engine noise is pretty minimal. Exhaust noise much more prevalent without mufflers but that rumble Is simply awesome 😀.

Your build is coming along nicely!

Re: Klondike Build

Nice. Had a relay issue on our big boat (berthed in Emeryville) and took a while to trace it down but sure was satisfying once I did. Looking forward to your launching! Congrats on the date Steve.
