Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Yes, I agree... leave the cowl out, make the angle a little less and put a windshield in there. Sounds like a plan

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I am thinking both side brackets and center support would be mahogany. The side brackets would be part of the coaming boards. The PB in the photo does not get a windshield and it is built as the plans show. Just a cowl, no windshield.

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I agree with your ideas... Streamline the center bracket and blend the side brackets into the coaming. The PB plans call for a coaming that is about four inches above the gunnel. Mine will be about 2 to 3 inches. Here is a picture of a PB that is ready for mechanicals. I would do away with the angle...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I'm shooting for G-16 Bill. No trailer yet Ken, but I have a couple that I will be looking at. The one I like the most is a 2006 all aluminum tandem with torsion axles and surge brakes. It is in really nice shape and I might be able to buy it for around 2K. The owner is out of town till 8/10 so I wi...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I have been working on the aft deck beams, the carlings, and repositioning three deck beams as a result of the 12 inch stretch. I have also located the position of the dash. I have been working my way forward from the transom to the aft deck beam in the engine compartment. I am now ready to tackle t...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Thanks everyone for the compliments and discussion on metals getting along with other metals. I want to go with an aluminum tandem torsion axel trailer with disc surge breaks on two wheels. I'm hoping to find a nice used one somewhere, but they are scarce. I got the aft deck beams cut and routed to ...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I have spent the last week fairing the sides down to the sheer. I used my electric plane as the primary tool to remove the majority of the material and then went to my RO sander to get it fair. It took a long time as it has been very hot here and I can only work for about a half hour before I head f...
