Re: Genuine Mahogany - is it all gone?

I've also been contemplating wood choices relative to price and work-ability. That'll be another post / conversation thread later this week. Tangentially related to this conversation.... I visited Scrounger's Paradise down in Asheville, NC in July 2015. It's the "Bit Lots" of materials, printed USGS...

Re: Glue Trough Roller Applicator

Thanks Roberta and chugalug.
Pretty well confirmed my suspicions. I'm contemplating a smaller version for some of my "need to do" projects at home... with ordinary wood glue. Truthfully, foam rollers are cheaper and disposable... and keep it simple.

Re: Chris Craft Sea Skiff

Just as an f.y.i. The Chris Craft archives are available (for a small fee) at the Mariners Museum Library: http://www.marinersmuseum.org/library/ Might be a valuable research tool. Their collection of vessels is worth the visit if you're ever in that neck of the woods. Best wishes with your build. jpm

Nice work... and a good tool to boot.
Won't be long (well geologically speaking) before a printed hollow 3D model will be doable and affordable.

Purple Haze - 1948 Shepard - 22' (for motivation and comparison purposes)

Whether furniture or timberframes, I look for ideas and inspiration in historic examples. Figured the same could apply in this forum. This was one of my favorites observed this weekend at the Smith Mountain Lake ACBS show. Features that are especially interesting to me are the combination windshield...

My understanding is that they assemble them.
They may have images or schematics they can share with you.

Re: Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia ACBS show September 11th to 13

I'm about 20 minutes from the SML ACBS show location, but will be another 30 minutes north that Saturday for a family event. Bummer.
Hope some of y'all get to visit. It's a good location and an enjoyable event.
Safe travels,

All-In-One -- Cabin Cruiser + Econoline 350 dually hauler

Wonder who among us will be the first to replicate this w/ a Glen-L design....

http://thechive.com/2012/12/06/suddenly-a-boat-video/

That took a whole lot of ciphering to work out.
Sounds like a 7.3 diesel running the hauler too :D

 Another Higgins enthusiast! As Ward Burton (NASCAR driver) once said: woo hoo hammer down woo hoo I'm contemplating building the Monaco Utility (some time w/in the next 40 yrs) in a manner that mimics this one: http://www.classicboat.com/antique-boats-23-higgins-3j.htm Edit: The Tahoe 23 a...

Here's a source with similar prices.... might be a little closer to you?

Granted, I have not done business with them, but figured it wouldn't hurt to share.

While I can't personally vouch for the company, Discount Inboard Marine appears to be a source.

Free down-loadable engine and transmission manuals

Stumbled across these: http://www.correctcraftfan.com/reference/manuals.asp The "For Sale" section appears to be a decent source for donor boats as well. I probably wouldn't mention the fact on that site that I was looking for a donor boat to cannibalize! Thought it might be help...
