Re: Bilge blower hose clips

Adel clamps are also called cushioned loop clamps. Aircraft Spruce sells them to at least 3-1/8" tube size. Searching for them I've seen them as big as 8". I used them in the Torpedo and on duct on my airplanes. I've seen plastic versions, but they seem to be a bit fragile. The good ones are stainle...

Rich and I are protected. We will not mask and won't ask anyone else to either. I think it is up to individuals to protect themselves and follow and any prudent guidelines.

Great post, Jim. That will certainly help clarify things, especially for the BB.

Re: Texas Barrelback 20

Good find and glad you have this resolved. Most dual battery systems are for people needing the extra power. Us day cruisers generally don't need it.

Re: Limbers

You're welcome. There's a lot to do and think about and sometimes things get lost in the shuffle. Always good to ask.

Re: Texas Barrelback 20

Do you really need an additional house battery for a Barrel Back? Are you planning on running electrical equipment with the engine off for extended periods? That battery will provide a lot of power on it's own.

Re: Texas Barrelback 20

I have that Odyssey battery in the Torpedo. I replaced it this year after 6 years of service. Try Battery Mart for a decent price. $335.00. Odyssey makes a nice mount for it.

Re: Limbers

Here is a picture and explanation of limbers in wooden boats. Notice that the ends of the battens were reinforced with additional wood to retain the strength where the limbers were cut. Wood should be added and bridge the limber. This is on page 153 of the "Boatbuilding with Plywood" Book by Glen L....

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Jim's idea with the floor jack and cross bar is a good method. Once you get the bow supported on the bunks, you can winch the boat on. Use soapy water to help slide it on the bunks. Helps to give the bottom a good wax job if you are using a polyurethane paint on the bottom. I wouldn't recommend doin...

Looking Great! If we could only reconstitute all the shavings and dust back into usable lumber. Or even the cut off pieces. Sigh!

They bought a 45 footer and were sailing on the Great Lakes somewhere, but we haven't heard anything lately. We're having a boat show in Sturgeon Bay August 12 through 15 if you get down that way. They may be there. Mark and Mary Willis, if you happen to see them.

Re: starter cable suggestions

For a short run 4 ga. Would be fine. I would go with 2 ga. Over 5 or 6 feet. Pre-made cables are nice as the crimping is done with the correct dies and force.
