Re: Building The Vera Cruise

"A few caveats. I will be using a bunk trailer. I will probably use aluminum for the trailer. I want a tandem axle trailer. I assume that the bunk mounts need to be adjustable in order to get them angled right to meet up with the boat." Depends which bunk mounts you say are adjustable. I'm speaking ...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Roberta you are mistaken, there are many adjustable axle arrangements. tandem, tri axle,
They do indeed exist.
Although most common on leaf springs,

Rebuilding the trailer from under the boat

Recently there is some topic(s) on trailers, disc vs drum, bunks, and getting your boat build onto the trailer. I'm in process of a 15 year maintenance on my trailer, pulled it out from under the boat. (and painting the boat) My build is 25' inboard. I have no way to pick up the boat from overhead, ...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

the bunks are adjustable, up to a point. the forward bunks are more adjustable than the rears. you would start off with the boat jacked up, blocked up, roll the trailer under, then set the boat down onto rear bunks, then adjust front bunks to meet bow vee hull. the bunks should ideally sit under hul...

Re: books on wiring

aw heck no, no relays. no way !!
why?
that just too much over-engineering, just another option for something to fail.
then when it does fail,,,,,,, you get to start troubleshooting relays !!
screw that !!

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Neel, I think you got a lot of room for improvement on that. That is a cool windshield, yes, but room for improvement. I been thinking of the wood frames for a long time, that center piece can be streamlined and lightened ,,,,,,easily, and needingly. It is the outboard one the more difficult. And th...

Re: books on wiring

Don't get too wrapped around the axle on the idea that heavier wire is better. I disagree with that thought. Proper wire is the correct size, not oversize. Oversize is heavy, bulky, bigger bend radius, cost more, and then the terminal ends might not fit, NEVER, NEVER never trim strands of wire to pu...

Re: New member from Peoria Illinois

I used to have a flat bottomed skiff also with tiller motor. used it in Subic bay. When conditions blew up tough, I often loaded all the weight to one chine, made it run on its chine. yes, it did get up on plane, with one chine up in the air, the other with zero freeboard, and your presenting a v-bo...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Wow Neel, looks nice. Looks like you are transmission limited with the 71c/383. Y'know with all the modern stuff, like factory roller cam, vortec heads, aluminum heads, etc. 1Hp/cu. in. is actually realistic. That would be 383HP. C'mon Neel, drop the other shoe, get a 72c and let the 383 Breathe !!!...
