Re: New Member - London, ON Canada

Hi, I'm building a Tahoe 23. Pretty handy at woodwork but had never built a boat before. I found the plans very comprehensive. Yes there were times I had to sit in the thinking chair and get my head around it. But also you have this great forum of willing, helpful people who will help you through an...

Hi Rod,
For new engines this mob is close to you and could probably bring in a V6 if that is the way you want to go. Engine Master Australia.

Re: Tahoe 23

Thanks Lee and Kens. No I left them unstained and matched timbers for colour where I could. Main advantage is later on if I have to do any repairs I don't have to try and colour match stains etc.

Re: Tahoe 23

Thanks Jamie. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas. Have you had a chance to take out the boat over Christmas? Yes cutting through a nice finish deck is a bit scarey. Nat as bad as drilling the prop shaft though. I used an oscillating multi-tool. Had a couple of bites off the line bu...

Re: Engine hatch hinges

Thanks guys. Some very different but clever approaches to the problem. I think I will have to plot my butt in a chair, look at the hatch and opening and have a think.

Engine hatch hinges

I was wondering what other people have used for engine hatch hinges besides piano hinges. Pictures or webb links would be good. Thanks

Re: Tahoe 23

I have finished caulking the deck and coating with a couple of coats of epoxy. Before caulking I mocked up a couple of test boards of planking, On one I caulked with a Sikaflex product from a tube. It was very messy even masking up, I left it for a couple of weeks and then coated with epoxy. Result:...

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Tom.
You should take a break for the winter and visit Australia. It's summer here and OH! by the way, you could do my cockpit fit-out. :D :D :D

Re: Ian's TNT Build

Personally before I went any further I would give it a couple coats of epoxy to seal it.

Re: FL Tahoe 23

David,
That is what most people end up doing and has advantages of generally speaking a stronger stringer less prone to warping.
