Now there is a thought. I am taking it out again this weekend and will let the Admiral drive while I study from the rear compartment. I hope we can get it to make the noise. It happens just enough to be annoying.

I was looking earlier to see if I have true clearance around the shaft all the way thru the hull and I am good.

I haven't pulled the shaft to see inside the strut to see if there are any compressed areas. From the outside it does not appear there are any but the tell tale sign will be a shiny wear spot.

And yes, the bearing was greased.

Dave,
I just wanted to let you know I'm still here. Patrick asked me to be nice until you had your problem figured out. He said he doesn't like excuses.

I hope you figure it out soon. I'm running out of popcorn. :(

Oh, ya'll get it. Was planning on last weekend but #1 son decides to change his visit to later in August so we rescheduled for #2 son this weekend.

Then #2 son decides to move out this weekend which obviously has the Admiral tied in knots. Heck, he is 23, "there is the road, son, hit it"

So, next weekend I am going boating with the local chapter of the ACBS at Beaver Lake down in AR. I will finally have another boat to use as a "stable platform" (Where is Ken when you need him)

Thus, I am tinkering in the shop. Installing a ladder on the swimplatform and installing a pop-up ski pylon. (kinda cool) and doing some sound proofing in the engine compartment. Just piddling.

And TESTING techniques to apply SM1000 so I don't have to sand so frigging much to get a good surface. This mess the spray shop left me HAS to come off. Too many sags, dips, air bubble voids, debris and "other stuff". But you will get to see her in her present state. I ain't messing with the finish for at least 2 winters.

Dave, about the noise...do you have a mechanics stethoscope? $5 at harbor freight.

They usually have an extension so you don't need to get your head too close to moving stuff

Maybe you can use that to poke & listen around to get some sort of feel & pin point where that noise is coming from.

If you can access the strut bolts with the rear seat and floorboards removed, listen there, shaft log,etc

Dave

The admiral would really be tied in knots if you had to kick him out. If they go on their own... GREAT :!: It's time.

On his own, with Dad's financial assistance.

Crap, I never had to ask for a single dime from my parents from age 13 and on, even thru college and afterwards. Kids have it much different today

I had a little more help than that. My parents paid tuition, books, lodging and some food. I bought the car, the gas, the play and some of the food. I co-oped and saved what I could. I haven't been without money in my pocket since I was 7.

Now, my stepson is 25. The only thing that keeps him alive is that it would be a waste of a good bullet!

Yes, I did and looked up who is the local provider. Turns out to be a prop shop not 3 miles down the road. If I don't come up with the source and solution to this issue, I will be making a visit to them. Thank you for the heads up

I still wonder if it really can be prop sing. Since all Acme props are CNC machined, and they specifically tell you that all their props are fully accurate within .0001" of each other, and all their props have the same scimitar blade shape, same thickness, same profile, same everything, then it could stand that if 1 prop sings they all would sing. If Acme really can CNC their stuff that accurately then your boat maybe dont like Acme wheels??
I got a OJ 14x18 4blade R/H you can try. it is 1 1/8" bore. you can run it if you want to. just get a bore reducer from the prop shop.
Or, ask the prop shop if he got a loaner prop you can try. What is the status of your 30day exchange with Acme?
