Just bought a used boat...

Post by OneManCoyote »

Just bought a used Glen-L design 17' sea kayak from someone. I have a poly kayak, but have never owned a wooden kayak and know nothing about their proper care. The seller said it has sit in his garage for the last ten years unused. It has been painted and the paint still looks good, but should I still consider refinishing? Any tips or pointers about what I should or should not do before my first trip out. The hull is perfect. There are no cracks, holes, or bumps. Everything looks spot on.

I'll see what I can do about getting some pictures in tommorrow. I didn't know how important the paint was to the longevity of the boat. I can't wait to paddle it. The former owner did a nice job. :D
