securing the oars

Post by kalbo »

I have a Row Me. My oars have clamp on oar locks and I would like to leave them installed in the bases while underway with a motor. I am looking for ideas on how to secur the paddle ends to the stern knees so they dont flop around and fall out of the boat. (the oars will stick out the back of the boat 2 feet or so if that makes any differance). any ideas? :?:

Velcro - but that can get mucked up and wear out if used in an outdoor environment. I'd vote against it.

Rope - this is a great choice.

Elastic/bungie chords - they can sometimes deteriorate quite rapidly out-doors.

I guess what I'm saying - use rope. Maybe a pad-eye on one side and a cleat on the other. Or you could drill a hole through the boat and just use a knot to secure the oar.
