In the directions, it says the planking has to be 1/2" thick, which is no problem. The Width is between 1/2" - 5/8", this makes it little squares. In the pictures on the website, the wood used does not look square, and does not look 1/2" wide. Could i use 1" to 2" wide planks on this boat???

I have built Cedar strip kayaks before, and usually use 1/4" thick, and 1"-3/4" wide, it bent great.

:D Just for your information. I have made this boat, and I made several modifications. The first and most important was changing the hull skin to 3/8" thick X 3/4" high. I then bead and coved them and built the boat to 20' long, kept the same width, raked back the stern and lengthened the bow to a more pleasing curve.

Here is a link showing the progress from beginning to end.

Regards,

Tom....
