Fife materials

Hi All - I am in the process of starting to build my first boat (the fife) and I am having a hard time finding 4mm marine grade plywood in Winnipeg, Canada. I am able to find 6mm, will it make a big difference if I were to use the 6mm instead of the 4mm? Thanks.
