Re: Building the Fife w/Periodic question along build
TomB, I picked up about 12x 2" clamps, 6x 6", and 6x 12" clamps. That probably double my clamp stock. Also looking at the sanding station made me think about pulling out my old knife making grinder which uses 2x72" sanding belts. If it all still works (havent used it in probably 8 years), it should ...

Re: Building the Fife w/Periodic question along build
I have a couple sanders that i need to pull out. I was considering a random orbital but i have a meguirs orbital buffer that i want to do some more research to see if i can switch out the backing plate and make it a sander. I believe the buffer is the same as the older porta cable. If i could do thi...

Building the Fife w/Periodic question along build
Starting the Fife build and thought I would centralize my questions and document my progress in one place, here. My worry is that my individual questions might get hidden as I won't have a specific topic subjects, but we'll see how that goes. I started this design by first identifying the size of th...

Re: Can the 11' Utility boat be shortened in the beam?
I decided on the Fife. Ordered the stitch and glue kit as well as the plans. Am I correct to think that I don't need the fiber glass kit till later or will I need the Fiberglass kit as I go? Will probably call Glen-L tomorrow to ask their opinion on Lumber Suppliers. I don't think I'll find what I n...

Re: Can the 11' Utility boat be shortened in the beam?
So far, the boats I think will work are -
1) Fife
2) Duck boat too (the 12'4" scares me, I don't know if I can clear that length, but it appears I can shorten the hull up to 10%)
3) The Glen L 10
Going to show the wife the first two. I think I am close to a decision....

Re: Can the 11' Utility boat be shortened in the beam?
Thanks for the input... 1) I don't think the squirt will work. The beam is 4'5" (same as the bulls eye). While its a foot shorter, my issue is actually the width. 2) The centerboard water line... of course. Thanks for the explanation, it makes complete sense. 3) Moving is definitely an idea outside ...

Re: Can the 11' Utility boat be shortened in the beam?
I really liked the Bulls Eye, but that too was a no go. It was sooo close. I am now thinking a 4 foot beam might be my limit. The keel I was referring to was the fin like things under the boat that is shown in the bullseye design drawings (I think you are right, I can see how it is a removable cente...

Can the 11' Utility boat be shortened in the beam?
Hello. I have been lurking for quite awhile and I think I'm ready to buy some plans. I have been wanting to build a power cruiser when I retire, but at this point, I really want a small start now since I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. Problem is, I don't have a garage and since I live on a milit...

Small Start, question on Engine Size
Hello, I think this is my second post (first being intro). Been wanting to build a boat for a long time, possible a decade. While I know I'm not ready (don't have a workshop yet), I have been thinking of starting with a set of plans and just working on building pattern pieces out of plywood. With th...

Hello from Kansas
Hello. I have lurked Glen-L forums and website for over three years now and with recent renewed interest, I decided to start an account here. While I am currently in Kansas (a doubly landlocked state), I am only here for a few more months and have no plans to start my project for at least another fo...
