use what you have.

I looked around where I live and came to one decision. I used what was available. I had ¼ and 3/8 BC Pine for plywood. I used poplar and whitewood for whatever I needed as a brace or whatever. I encapsulated the boat in epoxy. It worked. The boat has not rotted or delaminated or “exploded and sank” ...

Harbor Freight boat trailers

I got the Harbor Freight boat trailer. It is OK but does not come with all the niceties such as a winch. The big problem I am having is the “Certificate of Origin” so I can register the trailer. It did not show up in the box. I called them the first week of September and they told me it would be ten...

enamel

Has anyone used acrylic enamel on their boats? If so, did you paint the whole boat? How did it work? I read somewhere there is an enamel hardener additive out there? Anyone have any experience with it? As you can see, I don't have much knowledge on paint.

keep my oars in the boat

I have a Row Me. My oars have clamp on oar locks and I would like to leave them installed in the bases while underway with a motor. I am looking for ideas on how to secur the paddle ends to the stern knees so they dont flop around and fall out of the boat. (the oars will stick out the back of the bo...

tohotsu 5 or 6hp motor

I'm looking at getting a 5 or 6hp tohotsu short shaft for my Row Me. Has anyone had one of these motors and how was it? :?:

Sounds good

Sounds good. My boat is getting painted inside and out bright yellow with black trim, motorboard, and seat tops. and yes it looks like a bumble bee but I love it. Yes, the H. M. S. Hoopty will be in the water soon! I can't wait.

I thought about that

I thought about that myself. I decided, being old and fat, to go with something a bit bigger. What are you going to use it for? Just recreational paddling around the lake? If you plan on fishing or anything like that, I’d pick a bigger boat. I chose the 12 foot Row Me and the farther along I get in ...

Your right

Your right. I just didn’t like that thin skeg it called for. I had visions of it snapping off. I’ve seen the smaller skeg designs on a few drift boats. Anyway, I kept what the plans called for but thickened the skeg width. Should work fine. I'm happy with it. :D

skeg

my plans for the Row me call for a 4 foot skeg that hangs down about 3 inches and requires epoxy and screws. Does anyone think I could get away with two smaller skegs with just epoxy? :?:

old and poor

I got the plans for the Row Me. I have it together and have just completed the cloth on the outside. I built it out of 2 sheets of 1/4" and 2 sheets of 3/8 BC pine and a half sheet of 3/4". It is a very wide boat and will do nicely with the 6hp motor I am going to put on it. I can take it out on the...

ok, i did it.

Well, i did it and it worked out great. I kept the bow seat and built another bench seat between the bow and center seats. Not much extra weight, room for another kid to ride, and extra floatation.
