glass over wood question
I am trying to get a nice glass look. When I coat the surface I am coating it well and then brushing it out. It looks great at first but when it starts to dry is looks wavy as if I didn't put on enough epoxy. It kind of looks like little creators all through out. A friend who works with epoxy (not m...

What size cloth?
I hope this is an easy question. I am building the 16' McKenzie Drift boat from your plans and I am wondering what size cloth you would suggest? I am trying to be cost efficient.

I have not built one and am unaware how much the cost would be but here is a quote from my next project which is a stitch and glue which is a drift prams "By virtue of STITCH-&-GLUE construction, weight and cost are bare-bones yet maintenance and deterioration are virtually eliminated. There are no ...

Drifter Anchor System
I was wondering if I could get away with placing my anchor system just above the mid point of the transom. It is already in place snug on top of the transom knee. I figured the water level would only go up the transom 3 or 4 inches. I know it is probably not the preferred spot but do you think this ...

Drift Boat Colors
I was planning on painting my 16' McKenzie drift boat a soft creamy light yellow (kind of natural looking) with a darker wood stain for trim. My daughters room is painted this color scheme and it looks very nice. Since this is my fishing boat maybe I would want to use more natural colors such as tan...

Drift Boat Seat Designs
I have been building the 16' McKenzie drift boat. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find plans somewhere online for different seat designs or does anyone have any suggestions. I was thinking of designing my own that would fold down. Let me know you thoughts.
Thanks, Aaron

Drifter - Fiberglass first or Hull Interior?
I have been building the 16' McKenzie drift boat. I am in love with this project. I have just finished the side planking using a few scarfed joints in the process to complete the hull. After the bottom planking the plans say that my next step would be to fiberglass. I seems to me that I would want t...
